Paul Smith

Paul Smith was born in England in 1951. He studied history at the University of Cambridge (Ph.D. in 1979) but, since 1973, he has lived and worked in France. His work is primarily concerned with the history and heritage of industrialisation. Since 1986 he has been a researcher at the inventory services of the heritage and architecture directorate at the French Ministry of Culture. He has been involved in two European heritage projects, "L'Europe de l'Air" and "Working Heritage", the resources of which may be seen on the server of the Council of Europe.
